Biker Vest
In this article I will show you the making of a nice Harley Bikers Vest.
What you need is good quality genuine leather Biker Vest. I just the Fostex Biker Vest which is sold here in the Netherlands because of the nice look, fitting and heavy leather quality. The second thing I needed was a jeans jacket. The one I had was original with sleeves and dark blue. No vintage look at all more a bit neatly. So the first I had to do was to give the jeans jacket a vintage look, started with cutting of the sleeves. A real 'cut off' with a little bit of rafels. To get rid of the dark blue equal color I used P120 sandpaper and give a good sanding. Wrinkels gives nice effect when you are sanding the surface. Some holes will appear but that doesn't care. It took me about 4 hours to finish the jacket into a 'vintage cut off'.
In the mean time I order patches and pins on ebay. Lot's of patches and pins are available. After that you have to find a tailor who can sew patches on thick leather like my vest. Make a proper composition and take a print of it to the tailer. Besides that, my tailor (Turkish;-) put the V-twin patch upside down…
After changing his mistake my Biker Vest was ready. Hope you like it.
After a while I prefere to redesign my Biker Vest into a real HOG Vest. So I tear off all the patches and start all over again
. This time I thought it would be better to leave the Turkish taylor as it is. The leatherstore I bought my Sendra Boots: High Tension also has a taylor service and these guys are really professionals. Unfortunately the store nearby was on holiday so I called the one in Haarlem. The only problem was that I needed my vest within a few days for a planned ride-out with other HOG members. Denny, the guy from High Tension Haarlem was very helpfull and I send him my vest by parcel service and within 2 days I received it back!!! Great service and excellent quality. These guys really knows how to stitch patches… Thanks a lot!
